Big Burns Night and Wee Burns Supper to celebrate the Great Poet

Big Burns Night and Wee Burns Supper to celebrate the Great Poet

Big Burns Night at Hotel Marriott, Wee Burns Supper at St. Columba’s Scottish Church! We celebrated the great Scottish poet at these two traditional events in Budapest. I sang with Dagda, as I do every year. Lots of dances, Scottish food, whiskey and poetry. I was in my element!

The Wee Burns is a bit more moderate with a stronger cultural profile, whereas the Big Burns is a fundraiser event.  We performed the following Burns songs: Rantin’ Rovin’ Robin, Parcel of Rogues, Green Grow the Rashes O, Rattlin’ Roarin’ Willie

No big deal – short film

No big deal – short film

No big deal, my graduation project has opened a new door for me. A long time ago, in my twenties it was my goal to start a college course in film directing. Since I was about six, I had dreamed of making films. In the last part of the entrance exam, however, I backed out and left. It’s hard to explain why I considered myself unsuitable at the time… but to this day, I am certain it was back then the best decision I could make. I had two books published, launched two albums, played music, sang and wrote… And now the films have made an unexpected return into my life. I found myself in a university classroom, attended a BA course and completed a  filmmaker degree. … Hence the reason I have added a a Films page to my website, featuring No big deal as my first professional film. I am deeply thankful to the cast and crew, the actors and the school. May many other projects follow this one with friends and fellow creators. For more information, go to this link.

Kati Burns to perform at Hungarian House of Music

Kati Burns to perform at Hungarian House of Music

Hey all!

I’m looking forward to my interactive performance at Zene Háza on 22May, 2025. I will be presenting the singing style of Bauls, performing some songs live… but, more authentic than that, you will be able to watch some of my videos from West Bengal with real Baul musicians.

Come, let’s meet and sing together. Details soon.

Fête de la musique, Institut français de Budapest

I was very pleased to see the interested crowd watching my Baul show at the French Institute’s programme, Fête de la musique. We started at the mezzanine, then moved into the auditorium, I performed four Baul songs, three of which I learned on my latest study trip. It felt amazing to share them with the audience.

Thank you, Institut français de Budapest!
