Filmmaker bio

Katalin Burns joined the Nonprofessional Filmclub of Kőbánya (Budapest) in the 1990s. The workshop was mentored by senior film director György Szomjas and specialized in the involvement of amateur or semi professional filmmakers with the world of cinematic art. Their projects tackled the everyday life of the suburbs without any illusion.
After launching her career as a fiction writer and a musician, Katalin began to focus more seriously on films and earned a degree in filmmaking (BA) at the Theatre and Film Institute affiliated with the University of Pécs, Hungary, where she graduated in 2025.
Her home is the element of the absurd, the meeting point of ordinary and extraordinary.  Her plots often incorporate languages, the interaction of cultures and English teaching, as she is an active English teacher herself.
